CriticalKey Enables Physicians to Leverage Technology To Deliver Better Care
CriticalKey offers a sure-fire solution for wresting more value from your electronic health record (EHR) systems, one that benefits both physicians and their patients.
CriticalKey connects any health information systems, enabling physicians to electronically send orders from their own EHRs to participating providers. Using the KeyEngine technology, providers such as medical labs, imaging centers and hospitals insert the results directly into the patient’s record in the ordering physician’s system. The technology also posts an onscreen alert for the doctor when the results arrive.

“We experienced a significant improvement in productivity and doctor and patient satisfaction right from the start,” said Steve Vickner, chief information officer for Manhattan’s Physician Group, which is electronically receiving diagnostic imaging results from Beth Israel Medical Center.

Other immediate benefits:

  • Is convenient, easy to use
  • Speed test turnaround and diagnosis
  • Reduce medical errors
  • Save staff time and costs from tracking down faxes or retrieving results from portals
  • Meet meaningful use requirements
  • Aggregate information to facilitate mandatory reporting
  • Enhance patient data security

CMS Means Business with Meaningful Use

  • Doctors who install and use qualified EMRs meaningfully are eligible for up to $44,000 per physician from Medicare or $64,000 from Medicaid if at least 30 percent of revenue comes from the Medicaid program.
  • Government payments to physicians who adopt EHRs drop every year until 2015.
  • Physicians who do not demonstrate meaningful use by 2015 will have their Medicare payments cut by 1 percent that year, 2 percent in 2016, and 3 percent in 2017 and each year thereafter.
